Allies of the United States condemned the attack, and Trump, but said U.S. democracy would ultimately reassert itself.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">RUSSIA<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova: \u201cThe electoral system in the United States is archaic, it does not meet modern democratic standards, creating opportunities for numerous violations, and the American media have become an instrument of political struggle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Konstantin Kosachyov, chairman of the international affairs committee of the Russian upper house: \u201cThe celebration of democracy is over. This is, alas, actually the bottom, I say this without a hint of gloating. America is no longer charting the course, and therefore has lost all its rights to set it. Yesterday\u2019s events showed that the U.S. has no moral right to punish another nation under the guise of upholding democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">UNITED NATIONS<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was \u201csaddened\u201d by the events at the U.S. Capitol, his spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIn such circumstances, it is important that political leaders impress on their followers the need to refrain from violence, as well as to respect democratic processes and the rule of law,\u201d Stephane Dujarric said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">GERMANY<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said democracy\u2019s enemies would be cheered by the scenes of violence in Washington, but also alluded to Germany\u2019s own recent experience with far-right attacks and a far-right protest that forced its way into the steps of the parliament, the Reichstag, in August.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt would be self-righteous to point the finger at America alone,\u201d he tweeted. \u201cEven here, in Hanau, Halle, on the steps of the Reichstag, we have had to experience how agitation and inflammatory words turn into hateful deeds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chancellor Angela Merkel said: \u201cOne of the ground rules of democracy is that after elections there is a winner and a loser.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">FRANCE<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhat happened today in Washington DC is not American, definitely,\u201d President Emmanuel Macron said in a video message, in English, on Twitter. \u201cWe believe in the strength of our democracies. Peaceful transition of power is at the core. @JoeBiden won the election. I look forward to working with him as the next President of the USA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CZECH REPUBLIC<br \/>\nPrime Minister Andrej Babis removed an image of a red \u201cStrong Czechia\u201d hat inspired by Trump\u2019s \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d cap from his social media accounts.
